Incremental backup based on most recent full backup
Until a couple of weeks ago, whenever I opened Acronis Home 2012 I'd see a default screen showing me all the backups it had on my external disk, and inviting me to start a new backup and/or do an incremental backup based on one of the existing ones.
For no reason that I can make out (I haven't consciously done an upgrade), this no longer happens. When I start the application, the 'Backup and Recovery' tab is selected by default but it is entirely blank apart from the tool buttons at the top. If I select "Disk and partition backup" then the only option offered is a brand new backup; if I go to "Browse for backup" then I can see all the backups on my disk, but I'm not invited to do anything with them except "Add to backup list", whatever that means (pressing it doesn't seem to do anything at all). Going to the 'Tools' menu and selecting "Explore all backups" again gives me a list of what's on my disk, and invites me to restore from them, but not to increment them.
So can anyone tell me what happened to the nice, simple welcome screen I used to see, and how I can recover it? Or indeed, do an incremental backup by any other means, because I don't want to have to do a full backup every single week.

A 'repair' installation had no effect... I'll try a complete uninstall and reinstall later this evening.

I'm afraid that even after a complete, clean uninstall and reinstall (using build 7133) the problem still exists - the 'Backup and Restore' tab is blank, even after a doing a new backup and even after going through 'Browse for backups' and manually selecting 'Add to backup list' for the new backup.
In the process of testing, I also found that several times the ATIH application would fail to open; I could go to Task Manager and see that the application had started up and was consuming typically ~15% of CPU, but the GUI window never appeared. On these occasions, the only way to resolve the situation seemed to be to reboot my computer. I don't know whether the two problems are related in any way.

I think I've figured it out... There's a little star button on the Backup and Recovery tab which doesn't normally show a tooltip, but if I click it then all my backups become suddenly visible again. I've since discovered that occasionally (perhaps one time out of five, and after up to 30 seconds of waiting), I can get a tooltip to appear for this button that says "Show only my favourite backups".
I've also learned since that I can designate one or more backups to be my favourite by clicking on the star outline next to the backup name.
So it comes down not to application robustness but to poor, unintuitive and badly documented GUI design. I'm sorry, my heart fell when I upgraded to ATIH 2012 and saw how much the GUI had been messed up relative to the previous versions that I've been using for 10+ years. Now it's caused a serious amount of wasted time and trouble.
