Incremental backup: files get backuped even when not changed

Thread needs solution

Hi there,

I do a weekly (incremental) backup of my data fom laptop via WLAN/LAN to my NAS and I've noticed, that everytime, files get backuped even they haven't changed at all. Therefore the backup takes a very long time.
I'm not sure, whether all of the files are affected and get backuped each time, but e.g. all my images from my digital camera are affected and this is a huge amount of data...
Any ideas why this happens? I'm using Acronis TrueImage 203 Build 6514.

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Jochen

TrueImage backs up changed disk sectors--not changed files.

Running defrag or disk utilites to improve performance (file change location), or a disk with bad sectors can cause the backup to run longer and have more data than expected.

Hi GroverH,

thanks for this hint. Both of them could be, the hdd is somehow 'strange' and slow and I'll also have to check, whether some sort of disk utility is running.

Best regards,
Jochen

[Edit]:

No SMART errors on HDD. Have deactivated autmatic weekly defragmentation now and will check whether this solves the problem.
