Incremental Backup - Modifying folder sharing/security settings

Thread needs solution

Hello

I have an issue with TIH 2010 and I wanted to know if it's normal and if it has changed since then on TIH 2014.

I use TIH to backup my shared folders of my WHS 2011 (Windows Server 2008 R2).
But when I modify the sharing/security settings of a folder, it gets completely backuped again by Acronis even if it is an incremental backup.

You can understand that in a case of a file sharing server, where the sharing settings often change, it makes TIH unusable for large data backup (several TB).

Is it a bug?
Does TIH 2014 has the same behaviour?

Thanks

I have tried a trial version of TIH 2014, it has the same behaviour, even if we don't preserve the files security settings in the backups.

Why doesn't TIH save the file/folder metadata separately???
Really I don't understand that behaviour.

Does your Server version do the same as TIH????

I have requested some help on your behalf.

ABR11.5 uses separate folders for the metadata, it also uses a different type of database. However if i recall correctly it had a problem running on WHS but not on WS2008 -2012. I'm going back to the beta testing here, i think part of the problem was the way in which WHS spanned drives.

I suggest trialling ABR 11.5 on your 2008 system

Thank you very much for your answer.

I assume that the issue during the beta test concerned WHS v1 which indeed had a specific HDD management.
Since WHS 2011 the HDD management is the same as any other OS, so if ABR works fine on Windows Server 2008 R2 it will also work on WHS 2011.

It will test ABR then, the price seems also reasonable.

Thanks :)
