Incremental Backup strategy when running out of space. How to handle?

Thread needs solution

Hi

We want to have a daily backup of 3 Partitions of a Windows 8.1 64bit PC using ATI 2015. Backup shall use an external disk to store the tib files. Odd and even days shall use different disks (correct disk to be provided manually). So there is a disk for odd days and another for even days. There will be two backup tasks, one for odd and one for even days.

The backup shall start with a full backup and continue with incremental backups for 5 times. Then the procedure shall start with a full backup again.

Backup to be started manually.

The procedure as outlined above is set up correctly and works great.

It's clear that the tib files will require more and more space, because the procedure does not contain a delete tib file logic.

At a certain time the procedure will find that there is not enough space available to proceed with the backup.

We would like the oldest full backup and the increments based on this full backup should be deleted, if possible automatically, until enough free space is available to complete the current backup.

How to do it with Acronis True Image 2015?
Is it allowed to manually delete the tib files as described above?
How to avoid that the backup tasks shown in the left pane will get out of order or get lost?

Thx for answering my questions!

Greetings
George

This link will discuss in more detail the procedure of using two disks.

The GH12 is an example of how to set up your backup task to do its own cleanup of the oldest backup chain so your disk does not get full.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup. ...Keep Full plus 6 Inc per chain. Store/Keep 4 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.

This next link may be of interest as it covers a lot ot topics with seveal example of how to work with different backup schemes.
