Incremental Backup: Versions removed - cannot backup anymore?

Thread needs solution

Hello,

by mistake I deleted all files of an incremental backup. Fortunately I didn't needed them so I just wanted to start a new series of incremental backups using the same backup-settings. But TrueImage keeps instisting that I should insert the medium with the old versions - which I don't have anymore.

Is there a way to "reset" the backup-setting to use it again or is the only way to delete these settings and start from scratch with new settings?

Your best option is to stop using the old task and start a new task pointing to a new sub-folder.

Most likely, your problem could have been avoided if you had done the deletion from within TrueImage.

The Incremental type backup begins with a full backup as the base. Then each next incrmental is only what data that has changed SINCE THE LAST INCREMENTAL BACKUP. Therefor you must keep all inc or if deletion is needed, begin the deletion with the the MOST RECENTLY created backups. In order for the incremental to be valid, the ful and incremental left must be in order of creation from the very beginning.
