Incremental backup withou full backup?

When i start with a backup for a new partition, is it really necessary to start wirth a full backup or can i start with an incremental backup, because the first time "all" is changed and therefore the first incremental backup in this case should always be a full backup.

ATI will ALWAYS create a full backup the first time because it is impossible to have an incremental (or differential) backup without one.
