Incremental backups not working correctly and How to delete older backups

Thread needs solution

I am doing backups to a 4 TB external drive. I am using the Incremental scheme, set to create a full version after every 5 incremental versions. I am backing up daily at 4:00 AM. I have been backing up for about two weeks.
The first three backups seemed to be full backups. After that they have been smaller, with each 5th backup somewhat larger than the in-between backups but nowhere near as large as the first 3 backups.
Example: The first 3 averaged 300-400 Gb, the rest are around 300Mb. If 300-400 Gb is a full backup, I am not getting a full backup every 5th time. What is wrong?

Also, can I set up Acronis to automatically delete the older backups, or do I have to do that manually?
After only 2 weeks I have already used about 1/3 of my 4TB drive. At this rate I will fill it soon, unless I delete some of the older backups.

Did you tell the configuraton to "stor x number of recent chains"?; or opiton elapsed numbe of days" or a specif disk size limit.
In order for automatic deletion to occur, one of those options has to be set.

To be for sure, we really need to see how your backup scheme is configured--with or withoiut cleanup.

If you have it set for full +5 inc (chain length= 6 tib files) then next full i (is not due until backup #7--which startes chain2 or B2. After full backup #7(B2 full) , the first/oldest chain of 6 files will be deleted--assuming that you have not edited or changed the original configuration. After dirst deletion of chain 1(first 6 filesl) , six more backups will be performed before next deletion of oldest chain 2 occurs and deletion thereafter each full.

However, if you did make changes to the orignal task and deletion did nolt occur after backup #7, then the task is all messed up due the edits; and if this is the situation, then stop using the old task and start a new task with a new name and new storage folder or sub-folder.

Each tib file will be labelled as Full or Inc with appropriate sizes.
