Incremental Backups: restore from an older part?

Thread needs solution

Is it possible to restore not from the latest but from an older part of an incremental backup?

Thanks

You can choose where the restore begins. For example, if you choose #4, it will restore the base plus 1-2-3-4. If there are more recent such as 5 or 6, these will be ignored. You cannot select 5 or 6 without restoring the base plus 1-2-3-4-5.

I'm not clear on what you mean by "an older part of an incremental backup"? TIH treats the entire archive set (full backup + any incremental/differential backups) as a single chain, with each link being an archive file. Each link in that chain represents a point in time.

When you go through the restore wizard, it will list all of the archives in the chain, showing the date and time they were created. You then pick the archive that has the date closest to the time you wish to restore to.
