Index corrupted error when restoring C drive sector-by-sector using rescue disk
I am having a problem trying to restore a backup of my C: drive using the Acronis Rescue Disk, using the "whole disks and partitions" recovery mode
System: Windows 7 Home
Version: Acronis 2013 Home Build 6514
Problem: when trying to restore the C partition, I see the following error:
Operation with paritition 'C:' was termination.|Details:|Index corrupted (0x70025)| Tag = 0x89D94B01B483D Error Index Corrupted
What I've tried:
validated the backup - it's ok
ran chkdsk /f /r on the backup disk
Copied backup archive to another disk, and tried
Always I get the same error.
Does anyone have any ideas what else to try?
I have no options remaining.

Hi Steve,
Thanks so much for the pointers. This looks promising:
It was a corrupt NTFS filesystem record inside the .tib from the Data I made a backup from. I mounted it with Acronis backup Advanced 11.5 with read rights and performed a chkdsk. Though I had a older backup, with the same Data on it I canceled the chkdsk and didn't bother to fix it, but if anybody comes across this problem, this is the way to fix it!
Is there a way for me to mount the backup so that I can run chkdsk on it? I only have the rescue disk as my windows machine is out of order.

Eric, you would need to use another Windows machine to run ATIH 2013 to mount the problem backup image as the CHKDSK tool is a part of Windows.
Do you have any other backup image .TIB files that you could try to restore to get back to a working Windows OS environment from which to try mounting and repairing the problem image?

Hi Steve,
I have borrowed another windows computer and installed True Image 2013 on it. I have tried several things:
1. Tried to mount the C: drive from the TIB on another drive letter using the Mount tool. It fails saying that it cannot assign a drive letter from the backup partition (even through I selected only the C drive). Tried both read and read/write modes.
2. Tried converting to a windows backup file. I get the "Index corrupted 0x70025 error.
It appears that the TIB file is corrupt. Next step will be to try with an older tib file.

Eric, thanks for the update, hope you have better luck with the older .tib file.

Hi Steve,
No luck with the older ones. I've now tried all my .tib files. I always get the same index corrupted error when trying to restore sector-by-sector. The archive always verifies fine. Please let me know if you have any other ideas - I'm fresh out on my side. Anything else I can try?
Overall am finding this very frustrating. The value of this kind of purchased software is exactly during the time when it's needed.

Eric, are you specifically selecting sector by sector mode or is it defaulting to using that mode?

Hello Steve,
It is automatically selecting sector-by-sector mode. It's a full disk backup.

Eric, I am running out of ideas here unfortunately given that you are seeing the same issue with all of your backup image .tib files.
I would recommend opening a Support Case directly with Acronis to see if they have any further tricks they can suggest to try to get around this problem. You may have to use a Pay Per Incident case at around $20 if they won't offer you free support as a recovery issue, but may be worth it if they can solve the problem and get you working again!
As a point of interest, what are the size(s) of your full backup .tib files?

Hi Steve,
I will open a support case. Thanks for your help.
The backup files are about 50GB.
