Info on bootable media
Dear support,
I have a Evga nforce 680i motherbord with nvidia raid controller.
I would like to know if the Bootable rescue media Builder create an image that contains the driver of my raid controller.
What is the diffrence of the boot image from acronis website (TrueImage2010_s_en.iso) under registered product and the one created by Bootable rescue media Builder of the installed acronis suite.
I open the iso downloaded from the acronis website, it's 36mb, but apparently there is nothing inside.
Is it possible to clone an HD sata with Windows 7 installed, create a RAID with two 1T sata and recover the cloned w7 on that RAID.
What is the best way to craete a Secure zone use it in the raid or attach another HD and use as Secure zone.
Sorry for all this question but loosing time it's so easy with all technical aspect .
Thank you
Fabrizio

I menage to create the boot cd with the image created by the Bootable rescue media Builder .
When I boot with the CD there is a message that I don't really understand.
I have attached the configuaration of my motherboard, the strange thing is that I see correclty my 2 raid volume and one sata attached to N°5 port but what i don't see is the last HD sata attached to the N° 6 port.
I have disable the raid on 5 and 6 port so it shouldn't be problem to see to see them.
I need to clone an image inside 5 to 6 but i can't see the 6.
Why i dosen't show the number 6 it's a mistery.
Thank's for help

Fabrizio,
It looks as though there might be a Linux driver problem with the boot CD. I'm not sure why it is saying that you have a unrecognisable RAID setup, but perhaps this is due to the way your RAID is setup even if disabled in the BIOS.
If it is possible can you set the drives attached to 6 as an IDE drive, this might allow the Linux drivers to see the drive.

You can see if the downloadble iso will burn a better bootCD than teh one the Media Builder creates. Sounds like a simple issue ofhte linux drivers on your bootCD not being correct for your hardware. The download might have newer drivers.
Also, if the backup image will fit on another drive, you can try backing up to another drive. moving the resulting backup file for storage purposes and then, when ready to restore, copying it to a drive visible to the BootCD and do the restore. This flexibility comes only form doing a backup rather than a clone operation.

Sorry but still got problem with the boot downloaded from the website TrueImage2010_s_en.iso.
I am skeptical because I am scared to loose my 2 raid.
Detach or attach sata HD can damage my two raid.
Is thare a way to create a boot image with the correct drive for my motherbord.
Thank you
Fabrizio

Hello all,
Scott, thank you very much for your assistance.
Fabrizio, let me help you. Unfortunately, it is impossible to add a certain RAID driver to our bootable media (since it's based on Linux). However, you can create a BartPE media with Acronis plug-in.
BartPE (Bart's Preinstalled Environment) is software that allows you to boot into Windows-like environment from a CD. The main advantage is that it uses Windows drivers and has Windows-like graphical user interface. It is possible to add any storage drivers at startup in the same manner as when installing Windows on the hard drive (by pressing F6 and inserting diskette with drivers).
Please check this KB article for the detailed instructions on how to install the plug-in and how to add it to a bootable media.
Please reply to this thread if you need any further assistance, I'll be glad to help.
Thank you.

I was tryng to to create an ISO with BartPE, but i am not lucky, I am stuck when in point 4 when it says
Now PE Builder will ask to search for windows installation files. If you don't have your windows XP setup/installation files on your system you must insert the original Microsoft Windows XP installation/setup CD at this point. The files you have at c:\windows are not installation files. They are your already installed files! Click "yes" to start searching. PE Builder will now search all fixed- and CD-Rom drives for Windows installation files. This will take some time. When more than one valid location is found, a dialog will appear where you can select which location you want to use.
It dosen't found any source I have a XP Pro OEM CD and also a XP PRO 64Bit CD.
I have tryed on a W7 platform and on a XP pro 32 bit.
Thank's for any help.

Fabrizio,
You need to click into the i386 folder on either of the CD's - this is where the actual source files are.

It's not that easy after insert an XP PRO CD, first I perform a search and the result Number of valid source found: 0
Even if set the folder D:\I386 on the first field the result is the same where there is XP PRO install.
