Info for updating from t11 (version 11)
Hi all, I haven't been here for a long time, the reason being is I have dial-up and find this site extremely slow. ( after wider's) I have been receiving email from Acronis quite regularly offering me deals on updates. I am thinking of changing my OS to Win 7 and have been jumping through hoops trying to get some support from Acronis. I have tried both their support and feed back, no replies. Thisis for two years now, I wasn't too concerned because my TI 11 has been working well.
I simply want to know ( because it has been some time since I have done it and age boggles the memory) if I download and update to TI 2011 do I simply install it and put in my old TI 11 serial number or is that serial number only good for the next version of TI Ie: TI 2009.
Almost makes one wonder if maybe a new brand of imaging product is in order.
I can not get an answer from TI and past experience ( from wilders) has shown me how knowlegable and helpful the good people are here.

Denis,
If you just need to browse the forum and not post, you could try logging out. It usually responds more quickly because it doesn't have to customize anything. Might help with the slow connection. If it does, just log in when you need to post.

Okay I had win 7 installed, Purchased TI 2011 ( upgrade from TI 11 ) installed TI and all I can say is "SWEET". I had to learn a few things as there is quite a few changes, the most obvious being how to "explore" an image. I thought that function was done away with, but after playing for a while found out how to do it.
I created a rescue disk and it saw all my drives, the key board and mouse both worked.
The image took about 7 minutes using the rescue disk ( 39 gigs new os) but TI 11 was much slower.
I verified the image ( about 2 minutes). So I did everything short of a recovery, one day I will throw a new drive in and try it but I am confident that it will work.
I explored my old TI 11 images and also mounted them and copied and pasted with no problem.
I have been one of the "lucky ones" every version of TI that I have purchased has worked without a hitch.
Too few success stories on this forum I think.

Denis,
Thanks for the update. It's always nice to hear success stories.
As you have Windows 7, I would suggest that when performing a backup, you check mark the disk as to what is to be included in your backup. You want all the partitions to be included--including those which do not have letters or are recovery partitions, etc. Include them all.

Thanks Grover sound advice as per usual.
I have only one partition on my main drive and a second physical hard drive which I have assigned names in case TI changes their alpha title. Which TI 2011 did. I have had versions 8,9 and 11 this is the first one that changed the alpha title of my hard drives. I named the "C" drive "main" and the second drive "data" this sure saved me some confusion.
I make an image to my "data" drive and then another to a portable hard drive.
