Info for updating from t11 (version 11)

Thread needs solution

Hi all, I haven't been here for a long time, the reason being is I have dial-up and find this site extremely slow. ( after wider's) I have been receiving email from Acronis quite regularly offering me deals on updates. I am thinking of changing my OS to Win 7 and have been jumping through hoops trying to get some support from Acronis. I have tried both their support and feed back, no replies. Thisis for two years now, I wasn't too concerned because my TI 11 has been working well.
I simply want to know ( because it has been some time since I have done it and age boggles the memory) if I download and update to TI 2011 do I simply install it and put in my old TI 11 serial number or is that serial number only good for the next version of TI Ie: TI 2009.
Almost makes one wonder if maybe a new brand of imaging product is in order.
I can not get an answer from TI and past experience ( from wilders) has shown me how knowlegable and helpful the good people are here.

If you choose to install or test a new product from Acronis such as the TrueImageHome 2011, you will need to un-install any prior edition of TrueImage before installing any new version.

You can purchase the upgrade version which would require you to input the serial number from the old version 11 as part of any install as well as the serial for any recent purchase.

Or, you can buy the full version and it requires only the serial from the current version.

Or, you can download the 30 day trial version and get a feel for the new product before you make any purchase. Be sure and uninstall the old first.

If you test the trial version and choose to purchase, simply input the serials into the trial version and an uninstall of 2011 is not necessary.

Before you make any changes, stop now and boot from the V11 CD and take a full disk backup (all partitions) of your existing setup so you have a recovery path should things not go as planned. Just being prudently cautious

Denis,

If you just need to browse the forum and not post, you could try logging out. It usually responds more quickly because it doesn't have to customize anything. Might help with the slow connection. If it does, just log in when you need to post.

Hi, Grover and Mudcrab, I have missed you guys, good to here from you.
And as usual very helpful, I appreciate it, thank-you guys.

Okay I had win 7 installed, Purchased TI 2011 ( upgrade from TI 11 ) installed TI and all I can say is "SWEET". I had to learn a few things as there is quite a few changes, the most obvious being how to "explore" an image. I thought that function was done away with, but after playing for a while found out how to do it.
I created a rescue disk and it saw all my drives, the key board and mouse both worked.
The image took about 7 minutes using the rescue disk ( 39 gigs new os) but TI 11 was much slower.
I verified the image ( about 2 minutes). So I did everything short of a recovery, one day I will throw a new drive in and try it but I am confident that it will work.
I explored my old TI 11 images and also mounted them and copied and pasted with no problem.

I have been one of the "lucky ones" every version of TI that I have purchased has worked without a hitch.
Too few success stories on this forum I think.

Denis,
Thanks for the update. It's always nice to hear success stories.

As you have Windows 7, I would suggest that when performing a backup, you check mark the disk as to what is to be included in your backup. You want all the partitions to be included--including those which do not have letters or are recovery partitions, etc. Include them all.

Thanks Grover sound advice as per usual.
I have only one partition on my main drive and a second physical hard drive which I have assigned names in case TI changes their alpha title. Which TI 2011 did. I have had versions 8,9 and 11 this is the first one that changed the alpha title of my hard drives. I named the "C" drive "main" and the second drive "data" this sure saved me some confusion.
I make an image to my "data" drive and then another to a portable hard drive.
