Installation Failures - TI HOME 2011- HRESULT 2147024891
A couple of months ago I bought ATI Home 2011 (box) and installed it. No problem.
Today I downloaded and tried to install update ATI2011.6696_s_en.msi. Part way through the install I got the following message:
Module c:\program files(x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\x64\versions_page.dll failed to register
HRESULT - 2147024891
I clicked ignore and the install got rolled back. No installation. After running a System Report, I uninstalled the original program using Revo Uninstaller and tried again. Same result. I then tried to install the original program from the disk. Same result. No program installed. And no install failure log was created, as far as I could tell.
Now I have no ATI Home 2011 installed at all!
I am running Win 7 32 bit as an administrator on a Dell Probook 4525s. UAC is turned off.
Anyone have any idea what to do here?
Thanks!

Thank you for your offer of assistance with thread 19091, Yana.
I have attached a system report done the last time I had a working version of ATI Home 2011 on my machine.
I have also attached an install log from a day later that I discovered in a hidden location. I am not sure if it was created while trying to install the referenced update or in my attempt to install from the original disc.
Please let me know if you need another log. While I have found I can't do that manually from the update, I can probably do an extract while trying to install from the disc.
Seth

Yana,
I tried to install the update again six or so times. Each time I got an "access denied" kind of message about a registry key. Going to the key in regedit I found each completely inaccessible. I used a command line utility to crack each and take ownership/permission; a lengthy process. After all that I ran it again and got the versions_page.dll failed to register HRESULT -2147024891 error. This time I was able to successfully "Ignore" it. I got two more "failed to register" messages (unfortunately I was so elated I forgot to write them down) but the install completed after I "Ignored" each. Haven't yet done a full test, but ATI Home 2011 at least opens now.
Does it matter if certain DLLs don't register?
Seth
