Installing Acronis New Image Home on a New PC
Can I install Acronis True Image Home 2010 on my new PC without removing it from my old PC? I have my old hard drive and backup drive but can't use the old hard drive in the new PC to uninstall Acronis True Image Home 2010 from it (due to Microsoft restrictions to prevent operating system piracy). The old computer has been replaced with a new one. Must I purchase a new True Image Home to continue using it or can Acronis enable reinstallation using the same serial number on a different PC with its new hard drive?

Thanks. If "remove" it from the old computer means "uninstall", I can not do that since the old one is non-functional. If "remove" means removing the hard drive from the old computer, I've done that. Having removed the hard drive may I now install the program on the new hard drive?

If your old computer is not functional, you should be OK. Note that I am not a lawyer or a representative of the Acronis company, so I am representing my own understanding of the licensing requirements: each copy of Acronis TI is supposed to be used on one computer only.
From the EULA: "Before you run any instance of the Software, you must assign a purchased License to a single “Machine” owned by you. “Machine” means a single operating environment (physical or virtual), such as a single instance of a Windows or Linux operating system, and multiple instances of an operating system installed on a single personal computer, workstation, or server are considered multiple “Machines”. You may use a License for the Software with only one Machine at a time unless the Software or Services you use are explicitly designed and marketed to operate on more than one Machine at a time concurrently. The type of license you have (including such variables as whether the license permits use of Software on more than one Machine, whether the license fees are based on the number of computers, volume of data, or both, and the length of the license periods, etc.) is set forth as part of the Software description available at www.acronis.com/legal/licensing.htm Should your license for the Software you use be designed for only one Machine at a time you may transfer your license in the event that you cease to use the Machine on which the Software was originally installed. If you wish to protect multiple Machines, you must obtain a separate paid license for each Machine or you must obtain a multi-computer license which will be applicable to the number of Machines stated in such license."

Thanks, Pat L, I'll try just installing on the new machine.
