Installing a Backup Windows 8.1

Thread needs solution

I have a quite basic system with Windows 8.1 'C' on an SSD, Data on a 'D', and Acronis Backups on 'Z'.
Following an SSD failure which gave unacceptable downtime while I awaited a replacement I resolved to try an install a second 'ready to go' 8.1 as a seperate partition 'Y' on my backup disc. First step was to recover 8.1 from 'C' to 'Y' with TI 2013 and then try to make it bootable. Impossible to get past the first stage however as two attempts both resulted in my computer booting from the SSD and then 'Y' became 'C' and the original 'C' became 'E' with everything steadily going down hill. Impossible to say if my system was limping along trying to run windows from two drives but clearly I need a better plan. Apologies for not knowing where to find the Build No. for my TI 2013.

Can anyone help.

Thanks

Adrian
