Instead of new back up I am getting new backup versions. I think I will switch from Acronis, unless repaired
I believe this started ocurring after the last update to Acronis True Image 2014 Premium.
For years, I used to be able to do as many individual full version backups of my computer as I wanted. I manually got rid of older backups I did not need. This has worked beautifully. Since mid-2014 the
program automatically changes a new individual backup of my computer to a new version of the previous backups. It makes it more difficult to get rid of older backups, and older backups are marked as " not backed up". You have to go to your most recent version to find the older backup version. This automation for tracking versions of backups is horrible.
It makes it harder to delete older versions of backups and one is not sure if the backups will recover appropriately.
I am very frustrated, and I will probably switch backup programs after using Acronis for many years.
Acronis seems to have forgotten to keep it simple and reliable.
I hope they bring back the manual ability to control back up versions. But I doubt I will wait to find out.

AS MVP Pat L has indicated, the procedures that worked in 2010 have all been changed. A review of my link 2-L will help inclouding the "GH" links inside that link. The "GH" links are mostly how to use many of the options.
YOu can get the program to do mostly what you want to do but you need to follow some guidelines.
Set up a new task with a new backup scheme. Set the scheme as per this example except set your own number of full to keep.
Don't use the backup scheme option based on "elapsed days" or "disk size" restrictions.
GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme.Keep 4 versions (chains). The 4 is user choice.
Using this procedure, the program will begin a deletion of old backups (only backups created by this specific task) after it reaches your present number of full backups to keep. Your present number will be whatever you put in the "Store X recent version chains."
If you wish to manually delete any of those full created by this new task, you can do so but you must perform the deletion from inside the program as per my GH5 example.
GH5. How to delete backup files using Acronis Backup 'Explorer'
Create the backup task and make no changes. The only acceptable changes is to stop or start or change the schedule and that can be done from the main menu. If changes needed such as a new storage disk or other changes, create a new task with the new settings and stop using the old task.
These comments are what I have found works for me and which I recommend to others.
