iscsi support from recovery cd?
I'm currently running TI 2009 and normally back up to a samba share on a fedora linux system. I've been playing around with some iscsi targets on the fedora system and found that I get much better backup performance to and iscsi target than I do to the samba share.
The problem is that the recovery cd doesn't seem to recognise an iscsi target.
I can work around this by mounting the iscsi target on another system and sharing it but I would like to know whether TI2010 directly supports iscsi. If it did, it would be enough to convince me to upgrade.
Any thoughts?

I might doing that with the 2009 that I already have. I was hoping 2010 might already have iscsi support as it is becoming more common. I found a document on the acronis website that mentioned 3rd party software that is included in TI2010 and it mentioned iscsi, but it didn't say whether the recovery cd included it. I cant see any need for iscsi on the main backup software as it uses the windows drivers to perform backups. Its just relying on what windows provides to it.

Hello,
Gary, thanks for your help.
Stuart, let me shed some light on your concerns.
iSCSI support was implemented in Acronis True Image Home 2010 both in Windows version and in Linux Bootable CD. You can download the trial version of the software, create Acronis Bootable Media and check it by yourself.
Please reply to this thread if you have any additional questions.
Thank you.

I'd like to know too. I recently dedicated some space on my Synology DS209+II NAS for an iSCSI path. Simple setup, no authentication required for this particular target. The rescue media 'knows' the path (seen as K:\) as I have exported an image from an Acronis Secure Zone by means of VHD conversion through Windows. There didn't appear to be any options in the rescue media to search for an iSCSI target Using Acronis True Image Home 2010 with latest updates.

I think its time for someone from acronis to give us instructions on how to connect to an iSCSI target using the rescue CD. I have TIH 2011 and having booted from it, I see no options to connect or explore an iSCSI target.

We have the statement that iSCSI is implemented in the recovery media. I can see no evidence of how to connect the recovery media to an iSCSI target. Can someone please explain how this is done.

there must be iscsiadm command in bootable media shell.

Here's a scenario with the fully featured Windows version. Say you want to restore your partitions to your only hard drive on a laptop. The image cannot be on the same drive that it's going to restore to, but that's fine because the image is accessible through iSCSI. You browse for the backup and Acronis makes you reboot to take the process outside of Windows. When it does, you'll get an error that the path is invalid when it tries to access the backup. In both the Windows and the non-Windows environment of Acronis that it reboots into, no option to specify iSCSI is present. It may not know what kind of path it is when you browse for the backup, but the non-Windows environment of the program should allow you to remedy the path if it encounters an error. Data will be fine, nothing would be wiped. I'll also add that FTP is unfeasible because backups greater than 2gb cannot be restored by FTP directly. It seems other than the transparent nature of an already mapped drive as seen by Windows, iSCSI isn't supported at all in any instance of Acronis True Image Home 2010 and earlier.

We've already been told that it is supported in the recovery cd environment though, just need to know how to connect.

Hello all,
Thank you for your contribution to this thread.
I would like to apologize for earlier comments by my colleague, they were not entirely correct.
iSCSI is not currently supported in Acronis True Image 2011 Home. However, we have iSCSI support in Acronis Backup and Recovery 10.
You can always submit your feedback to our Development team from this link, and from my side I will keep you posted if I have any additional information.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
