Issue with Itunes no longer being activated after restoring an image.
So I have been using acronis true image home for awhile now, and I really like it accept I noticed an issue with software that requires online activation. When I restore my hard drive with a backup image with the programs already activated,(such as when I got virus a while back) the activated software will report some kind of error and cause me to use up a second install license. If an image backup is an identical copy of my hard drive and restores my hard drive to the exact condition is was in when the software was running fine, how does the software know something has changed? Protecting my investment in my licensed software was one of the reasons I am attracted to this method of backing up using disk images. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Ok thanks. First post I got with some helpful information, including on a post on another forum. Have you seen people successfully do this with adobe products and itunes activations still in tact?

For what it is worth, I have restored my full system disk with plenty of Adobe apps on it and I chose to preserve the disk signature (without know about this particular issue), and didn't have issues with activation.
Good to know.

Thanks Pat L, that is useful info for me as well. But now I'm wondering how did my disk signature change from the time I made the backup image, and restored the image. I never reinstalled the OS or changed hard drives.
