Is it just me or is True Image 2015 the flakiest backup software Acronis have ever produced?
I have had two previous versions of Acronis True Image, the last was 2013. I month or so ago I decided to upgrade (sic) from True Image 2013 to 2015.
Problems (not all just the highlights, or should that be lowlights)
1. I upgraded over the top of 2013, existing updates wouldn't work. Acronis support response, our products only update from the previous version (presumably 2014). Hmm that's looking after your customers!
2. Stripped out True Image completely and re-installed. Once installed back-up new version and then at the next timed back-up the software told me the back-up didn't exist. Oh yes it does say's I. Removed back-up again from the software and re-added it. Performed a back up successfully but again failed a few days later. Decided to remove my old back ups and start again with a new back up from scratch.
3. I have been away and noted that back ups stopped working after a few days and that the total of the back ups (4 off full versions) was larger than the set maximum (which is set to be enough space for just over 3 full back ups). Set off a back-up (assuming it would do this and consolidate the back ups) and after an hour or so got an error message indicating there was an issue and an error code. Entered error code into the Acronis support tool and got a message that no information was available for this error, what's the point of generating error codes if you don't document what they mean!
I have True Image 2015 on my laptop and my desktop PC (the tale of woe is only around the desktop) and neither has been plane sailing, the back-ups frequently fail and the consolidation is very hit and miss. For the laptop when it started to fail I ended up having to remove the back up from True Image and manually delete the oldest back up from my store and then re-add the back up back into True Image, so far it has worked, however it hasn't needed to perform a consolidation which will probably fall due sometime over the weekend.
With previous versions I never noticed they were there, the back ups just went on flawlessly day in and day out without the need for my constant supervision.
I really rue the day I decided to upgrade as in reality it was a huge leap backwards!
I would open yet another case with Acronis Support but to be honest I just can't be bothered I will start looking for an alternative product.
A very disappointed customer.
