Keeps looking for old drive letter

Thread needs solution

I am now backing up to an external hard drive instead of a usb. It backs up fine to the hard drive but continues to look for the drive letter of the usb and gives me an error message that it can't continue. I have deleted all past back ups and reconfigured though settings for the new drive. All looks fine. I just can't seem to find where Acronis keeps finding this now nonexistent drive letter. Any thoughts as to how to fix this?

You should assign a fixed drive letter to your external drive, high in the alphabet (e.g. V) to avoid its letter changing.
Then, create a brand new backup task to that new location.

While assigning the drive letter, you should also add a recognizable label to every partition, so you can uniquely identify them without the drive letter.

As MVP Tutte has indicated, stop using the task and create a new task pointing to the external disk with its new drive letter plus also assign a new folder for storage of your new backups.

If the storage disk is an external disk, then it is most likely connected via usb cables. In any event, if the backup are occurring, then the task would appear to be running correctly but it is another task which is pointing to the wrong drive letter. Each of the tasks listed on your main menu has its target location visible in the upper left hand corner of the task. It is this task which needs to be disabled or changed to "do not schedule".
