Keyboard and Mouse not working after cloning HDD to new SSD Windows 10

Thread solved

Hello,

I am having trouble with my keyboard and mouse on my new ssd. I cloned my 1 TB harddrive to my new 480gb pny ssd. Going thru prompts in true image 2015 everything seemed to go ok. The computer restarted and went to the log in screen. I am able to move my mouse curser, but not click. The keyboard does not work at all. The only things that work on the keyboard are the lights for number lock, shift lock, and caps lock. I have tried pluging into other usb ports, but none worked. I am able to boot to my hard drive still and the computer works fine.

Processor AMD FX6300 3.5ghz 6 core

Thanks

Kevin, welcome to these user forums.

Please see post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/123926 where another user reported a very similar issue recently that was resolved by uninstalling an OEM version of Acronis True Image.

I too am having this issue, I'm running a retail boxed version of Acronis True Image 2015 build 6613.  When I clone from my old SSD to my new SSD with windows 10 with current updates, I get to the login screen but no mouse or keyboard input works.  The screen just sits at my login splash page and I can move my mouse cursor but that's all.  Then after several minutes the mouse looks like it's loading something with the spinning disc next to it, then the screen will begin to flash from the splash page to a blank screen.  I've tried using the boot media as well as through the program in windows.  Same issues each time.

I got it solved,  the problem was after I cloned the drive I didn't diconnect the old drive before starting it up again for the first time.  It appears there's some sort of signature that needs to be written to the new drive that was getting messed up with the old drive still connected.  All's well now.

Matthew,

Thanks for closing the loop and providing your solution.

Hi, I have the same issue on an ASUS S551. I cloned the old HDD on a Crucial SSD, it is the system drive.

I don't understand, how do you disconnect the old drive? In my case it would be the old HDD with system information. I removed it physically, but I wouldnt know how to "disconnect" it.

Marcello, welcome to these public User Forums.

If you removed the old HDD then that should be fine, especially if you replaced it by the SSD in its place.

I finally solved the keyboard issue with a radical solution... Restoring windows 10 and using the online download option. When I rebooted all was ok.
