Lift Data Files from Cloned External Disk
Idiot Moron: that I am, But is there any way I can get just my data files from a cloned external HD?
I used my just purchased ATI Premium 2014 to clone my Dell Inspiron's HD to an external WD HD.
Stupid: Yes. I was not aware of the difference between cloning and backup. I thought cloning was backing up. I finally read the instructions after the fact, and now I pretty much understand the difference.
I further compounded this error by cloning from within the Windows 8 environment instead of using ATI on the rescue boot disk as explained in the instructions.
After the cloning operation, my computer would not reboot. I got an error message telling me that my "boot configuration data was missing or contained errors. Error Code: 0xc000000f."
My computer is still under warranty so I called Dell. They told me I needed a new motherboard.
A unisys tech subcontracted by Dell came to my home and replaced the motherboard.
After the replacement, I tried to boot and received the same error message as above (0xc000000f).
Dell told me I had to delete all the partitions on my system HD and reload Windows 8.
In so doing, I inadvertently deleted my 2nd internal HD containing all my data files.
My son says I should not be allowed near a computer, since the days of DOS are gone and will never return.
Anyway, the bottom line is I'm sitting here with a nice new motherboard and a System HD loaded with Windows 8 and nothing else (I haven't begun the long tedious task of reloading all my programs, yet). And a second internal 2 TB HD completely clean that used to contain my data files.
Oh Yeah! I also still have the WD external Hd with the cloned original disk.
Is there anyway I can lift my original data files from it?
Very, very much appreciative of any help.
Thank You.
