Linux and sector by sector backup

Thread needs solution

Hello all,
When doing a "sector x sector" backup of my "Linux ext3 partition" is compression used on the sectors with data , and no compression on "empty sectors" ? Thanks in advance

Hello JustPlainFred,

Thank you for your interesting question. I will certainly help you with it.

During a sector by sector backup there is no compression at all. The resulting .tib file will be the same size as the original partition.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.

Anton,
Hello and thank you for you reply. I have one or two more questions... When doing a "backup" of a Linux partition , ext2, ext3, ext4, how will Acronis 2010 V-7046 handle this ? Can Ti do a "normal image" of these extensions , or will the "sector X sector " approach be used ? Also, Acronis identify's (backup screen) My Linux Mint Isadora v-9 as ext3...I'm pretty sure that it is ext4 (when looked at using "gparted" (partition manager) ....and this would explain why i couldn't do a "normal Image" Thanks in advance for your response.
