Lockup during backup

Thread needs solution

My acronis true image 11 home locks up after the backup file selection, on the source files exclusion page when the next button is pressed. I have to use task manager to stop the program. Effectively I can't shedule a new backup. I have tried disabling "distributed link Tracking client" reloading the updated SnapAPI update, nothing works.

Hello Brian,

I will do my best to solve the issue you experience.

The can be a lot of reasons for the encountered issue. Eg. files system errors, Acronis drivers malfunction, incompatibility with other software installed and so on.

I would start with checking the disks for errors.

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)

- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r" (where DISK is the partition letter you need to check) for every partition that is visible in My Computer. Please note, that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

If there are no errors disable temporarily any antivirus software and see if the issue persists.

I am not certain if the issue is addressed in the new build at this point, however it is generally a good idea to be up to date. You can download the latest build from your account under registered products.

I would also recommend you to download free trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 and check its functionality.

If the issue still persists please attach the following diagnostic information to your next reply.

Windows XP:

- Download and unpack the Device Tree application:

http://download.acronis.com/support/devicetree.zip

- Run the application;

- Completely unfold the \Driver\Disk and \Driver\FtDisk branches;

- Move the margin to the right in order to see all the items;

- Make a screen shot and send it to us.

Windows Vista:

- Download and unpack the Device Tree application:

http://download.acronis.com/support/devicetree_Vista.zip

- Run the application from "i386" folder (run the 64-bit version of Device tree from "x64" folder if you have Windows Vista 64-bit);

- Completely unfold (click on all plus signs) the \Driver\partmgr and \Driver\volmgr branches;

- Move the margin to the right in order to see all the items;

- Make a screen shot and send it to us.

Let me know the results and if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
