Long Time to Complete Backup under Bootable Media (Linux)!!! ...SOLVED...
In first place Excuse me for my bad English, this is not my mother language...I'm from Brazil.
Could someone give me help on this issue?....I'm really mad about this problem!
Here is my Scenario:
Important Points:
1 - Bootable Media can see my Marvell RAID 0 and my USB 3.0 HDD without any problem.
2 - My USB 3.0 ports are NEC under Renesas Drivers.
3 - I'm trying to perform a backup in "Disk Mode" under "Bootable Media"
I bought ATIH2013 Plus Pack with the following objective in mind:
"Backup my whole Marvell RAID 0 (210GB) to my USB 3.0 HDD and further to migrate it (System) to a SSD (C:\) and all Data to HDD 1TB Sata3 (D:\)" !
I do not feel confident to backup my system within Windows environment, so I went to make my backup under Linux environment (Bootable Media).
But, to my disappointment when I tried to backup under Bootable Media it shows me "9 hours" to complete a 210GB backup.
I canceled the process and went to make a test within Windows environment....And It shows me only "50 minutes" to complete a backup of the same 210GB.
So, I decided to make another test....But, at this turn I used my other USB 2.0 HDD to make a backup of the same Marvell RAID 0 (210GB).
Results: Within Windows environment "2 hour and 20 minutes" to complete and under Bootable Media "the same 9 hours" to complete.
As anyone can see, backing up within Windows is perfect while under Bootable Media there is something very weird!
Have someone any idea what is going wrong?
Thanks in advance to anyone that could help me on this issue!

tomf,
Excuse me, I forgot to mention:
"It passed all night backing up and in the morning the green bar was still in 1/4"
There is something really wrong!
Thanks for your fast reply!

SniperHawk:
I received your PM but it is better to reply in the forum where others may benefit from your question.
Typically your symptom means that the version of Linux used by Acronis does not contain drivers for your USB hardware. You have 3 options, in order of complexity:
1. Create your image with the Windows version of the program where the proper drivers are available. You can be confident of getting a good image in Windows because Acronis uses snapshot technology where the image contains an exact duplicate of the disk at the point in time when the image is started. You can continue to use the PC while the image is being created. Any changes made to files will not be included in the image; only the exact state of the machine at the instant that the imaging process is started. This is the core competency of this software; all the rest is just bells and whistles.
2. Contact Acronis support to see if they can make you a custom ISO of the Linux Bootable Media that contains drivers for your hardware.
3. Purchase the PlusPack and use it to create a Windows PE-based recovery disk. The driver store included with Windows PE is extensive and will likely support your hardware.

Dear Mark...You're The man!
Thank you very much for your fast reply!
You're correct...It's better to place a reply here...This way everyone with the same problem as me can benefit from your excellent advices!
I had a big suspect about lack of drivers for my NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 in Linux Bootable Media...And now, just getting the same opinion from you I became very confident to create a WinPE Media and go ahead!
I already have Plus Pack.
As soon as I take a time to create my WinPE and make my tests I'll place a reply here!
Thank You again Mark!!!!

I use Renesas USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver. I updated to latest driver 2.1.39.0 and firmware 4.0.2.1.0.3. My USB 3.0 ports work fine with ATI Rescue Media.

tuttle...Thank You for your reply!
I'll follow Mark's advice and create a WinPE Media
I am very confident that You both gave me a final solution!

Unless I'm mistaken, it seems to me that the WinPE solution requires the download of the WAIK which approaches some 2GB in size. My remote country address ISP is hard-pressed to get such a big download.
I wonder if anyone knows of a source that sells a DVD with WAIK installed???

@tomf,
Unfortunately WAIK/ADK and Microsoft licensing is quite restricted, that is why Acronis let the user download WAIK and they provide the software to hook into it. Because of this, you won't find many places legally selling WAIK or ADK (w8/8.1). All may not be lost though, if you have a brand name PC/Laptop, it might be that the WinPE files are located in the recovery folder - you need to look for a WIM file. If it is there, it will most likely contain many of the drivers that model requires. There are 3rd party manipulators available for mounting WIM files and allowing you to add drivers and then resave the WIM.
With some searching you might find someone who has seperated out the WAIK/ADK contents to the bare essentials, as all that is required is DISM/WSIM the boot files and the WIM file for either 32 or 64 bit systems. However the actual PE file is still around the 650 - 700MB mark.

Thanks for that Colin. I did find another method that would appear to be less download-heavy than getting the entire WAIK, though the "make" process that I found here does seem to require the whole bloody thing.
This stuff makes me sorta dizzy so if you have any opinions about WindBuilder I'd love to hear them:

Supposedly it can be made to work with Acronis.

Instead of figuring out the intricacies of WinBuilder you could try forum member MUSTANG's PE Builder http://forum.acronis.com/forum/17630

Because I was looking to avoid having to download the WAIK in its entirety. From Mustang's site:
3. You must download and install the free Microsoft Windows Automated Installation Kit

Hello Mark and all members here!
Could someone give me an answer on below question?
I have already installed on my Win7 x64: "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile".
But, here http://kb.acronis.com/content/34318 they say to install: "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 from the downloaded kit"
And now?...How do I have to proceed?...Install NET Framework 2.0 or keep NET Framework 4 Client Profile installed?
Are both the same software with different versions or one has nothing to do with the other?
Thanks in advance!

I don't know.
Try it without installing .NET framework 2.0. If you get an error message saying that .NET 2.0 is required, then install .NET 2.0 and try again. From the limited searching that I did on this topic, you can have multiple versions of .NET installed on your machine.

Yes, you may.

Hello Mark and tuttle!
Thank you guys!
I really appreciate your expertise!
I'm very busy with some personal issues and didn't have time yet to make my final test.
Until next friday I'll place a final reply here!

Hello Mark and all members here!
I did the opposite...
I went to install .NET 2.0 and in sequence I received an error message saying "The product is already installed as part of the system".
So, this is the same software...But, I already had the latest version.
As per your initial instructions I was guided to discover too many things that I did not imagined before.
So, I created a customized WinPE Media with Renesas USB 3.0 Drivers, Realtek LAN Drivers and Marvell Storage Drivers.
I was guided by the following material:

Thanks a lot to everyone here!!!

IMPORTANT UPDATE!
Last week I upgraded to Acronis True Image 2014 Premium, created a Linux Bootable Media and to my surprise it worked flawless with my NEC/Renesas USB 3.0.
In other words... Acronis True Image 2014 Premium offers full support to NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 and It took only 52 minutes to make a 218GB Disk Backup in Linux Rescue Environment and only 32 minutes to validate a Disk Backup that was created previously within Windows.
I decided, anyway, to update you guys with this info and this way give help to someone else that is suffering with the same issue in ATIH2013 as I was.
Thanks to everyone here that helped me with this issue!
