Machine transfer not working.

Thread needs solution

HP Pavilion, dv9700. 4gb ram, 240gb ssd + 2tb hdd.  Acronis 2013 image backup on the 2tb, boot from acronis 2015 cd.

This dv9700 is failing.  Got another dv9700 from ebay. It works perfectly fine with the 160gb hdd/win10 it came with.  Move the 240 ssd to the new 9700, new machine does not see the 240g ssd - period.  Got it to see a new wd 500gb ssd.  restore the image from the 2tb with the acronis 2015 boot cd, and the win 7 ult x86 that is on the 240g ssd does not boot. gets to the start of the logo animation and freezes, then bsod's with 7b.  put the same drive/image into the original (failing) machine, it all works perfectly.  tried windows boot and repair stuff.  no go. any thoughts?

only differences I know of between the 2 9700's aside from drives is that old has a cd/dvd, new has lightscribe. old is amd turion cpu, new is intel core 2 duo. old is 802.11n, new is 802.11ac.

Kris, sorry but to do this type of migration will require more than just doing a backup and restore from one computer to the other.  The differences in CPU are significant and I suspect there are a lot of other changes here too.

You will need to use the Acronis Universal Restore bootable media in order to prepare the restored OS to work on the new hardware.

You mention that the new computer is working with Windows 10 that it came with - what OS was on the failing computer?  If this is also Windows 10, then that will simplify matters greatly as you already have a licence for this OS version with the new hardware.  If you have Windows 7 or 8.1 on the old computer, than unless this is a full retail version, it is unlikely to activate on the new computer without buying a new licence.  If it is an OEM licence on the old computer, these are not transferable to a different computer.
