Maintaining single consolidated backup

Thread needs solution

Hi
I have True Image Home 2010 and wish to maintain a single consolidated backup of 200GB of data. I used to have a Maxtor OneTouch Drive which did this simply - starting with a full backup then just updating those files which had changed - result quick updates.

TIH 2010 starts with a full back up but then creates a separate incremental file before consolidating the two into a "clone". The incremental is created quickly but the "cloning" then thrashes the hard drive (esata) on wich it is storing the backups horribly - seemingly for as long as it took to create the original full backup. My PC hard drive also seems to be working hard at this time. I fear for the life of the backup drive being thrashed like this. Making a new full backup each time would appear quicker and less damaging in terms of drive wear.

Question - is TIH 2011 any more "intelligent" in the way it does consolidated backups or does anyone know of other software which is?

Regards

JK

YOu might be better off just doing a single full backup each time-- consolidation will take no time.
