Managing External HD backup space

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis TI 2015 in an area where internet connectivity is sketchy, so I am using external hard drives. When the HD starts to get full, which files can I delete?

Peter, the answer to your question really depends on what backups you are creating and what options you have selected when you defined your backup tasks.

ATIH 2015 is fully capable of managing your external hard drive space with the options for Automatic Cleanup that you can specify, i.e. to create x number of backups but no more, where when the number x is exceeded the oldest backup will be deleted.

If you are using differential backups then you can manually delete the older versions of these if running short of space as these types of backup hold all changes made since the last full backup was created.

If you are using incremental backups then you need to keep all those created since the last full backup.

If you are only creating full backups then it is your decision as to how many generations of these you need to keep for your peace of mind.
