Manual Incremental backup

Thread needs solution

I have ATI Home 2010 and I'm a complete novice re this product. I've read (not necessarily understood) the User Manual and I'm having all sorts of trouble.
I'm running on XP Pro, SP3 and I'm getting ready to install a new Win 7 Pro, 64 bit system. My objective is to backup my data, etc. files to an external HDD, install ATI on my new system, then 'restore' my data from the external to my new system.
I've backed up/consolidated my data into My Documents on XP system and backed up My Documents using ATI to the external HDD (seems to have worked OK). Since I'll still be running the XP system for about a week until the new system is ready, I want to do Incremental backups to the HDD file. I've tried to schedule the Incrementals but it's not working (really not sure what's happening).
Finally, my question: Is my strategy practical and, if so, how do I do Incrementals re the HDD file?
Sorry for being so wordy- would greatly appreciate some help. Thank you.

Hello Jerry,

Let me assit you.

Actually, scheduled incremental archives should work just fine for you.

You can internal task scheduling this way:

  1. Start Acronis True Image;
  2. Choose data to back up;
  3. On Scheduling screen choose a schedule for the backup job
  4. On Backup method screen select that you want to create incremental archives;
  5. Click Proceed.

After that new full archive will be created. And then only incremental archives will be created according to the schedule you've set. If you selected 'Do not schedule', you can find the task in Tasks&Logs, right-click on it and new incremental archive will be created.

Please reply to this thread if you need any additional assistance.

Thank you.
