Manual program update attempt: TI 2011 hangs

I am running True Image Home 2011 (German). From the Help Screen, it says I have Build 5041.

Clicking on "check for availability of updates manually" ("Auf Aktualisierungen prüfen") opens a small screen (something like "checking for updates" in German) but the application then hangs and cannot be closed except the hard way through the Windows task manager.

Help wanted!

Also, I am confused about the build. Do I have the latest one? On the German Acronis website it says Build 5105 is the latest, see: http://www.acronis.de/support/updates/index.html

When you follow the link to the update ("Liste der Änderungen!), you get both "5105" and "5015". Ok, clearly a typo, but how do I know which one is correct? Please have these infos on your website corrected!

Unfortunately, I am having some more issues with custom backup schemes (which I hoped could be solved by an update), but I'll create a different post on these. First, any ideas about the update issue?

Did you download from the Acronis website or purchase the software elsewhere?

The German edition often has different build numbers to the US editions (as do other languages including UK English).

Did you have a version of TI installed previously?

Purchased boxed version at Amazon.de. No previous installations of any version of TI.

So two questions:
1. Is my build (5041) the latest?
2. More important: Manual check for updates causes program to hang. Therefore, obviously, the automatic update-check which, according to Acronis specs is performed after each start of the program, is also not working (at least, I don't see the application actually trying to perform an automatic update, nor do I see any results should an automatic update have been perfomed).

Download the version that is in your account. If that says and is version 5105 then that is the release version and build 5041 sounds more like a beta or intended German release that never was.

5105 is the current English language version.

Ok, I'll see whether that helps, and will report back (by early next week). Thanks.

(Weird though that a boxed CD-version sold nation-wide should be a pre-release or something like that....)

thanks again, problem solved by installing latest German build (5105) from their support site (although they still have typos there...).

Amazon must have indeed shipped a semi-functional, earlier version! I blame Acronis though as the product came in a sealed box, complete with hand-book etc. As neither manual nor automatic update worked, they leave it to the user to find their way through the maze they call "support" - basically a confusing English-German mixture of various webseite and forum sections...

Hint to other German users: make sure you check your build manually from the "help" tab of the application! If it's not 5105 upwards, then it's not working properly!

I am happy that the initial issue was resolved, there is a known problem with the boxed version which is build 5041. We recently released build 5519 where this issue is resolved.
