Master boot record (MBR) and Acronis 2015
In the previous version of Acronis it was simple to backup and restore the master boot record (MBR).
I don't see anywhere to do this in the 2015 version.
Can somebody enlighten me?
Thanks...!

When you boot on the recovery medium, select what to restore from your backup. you don't see the MBR option?

I'll check this thanks...
I can't see it in the windows app though?
Thanks...

Well doing restore on the system disk through the Window app is really not recommended, so you shouldn't miss it there :-)

I'm just taking about restoring the MBR on the windows app. There are no issues restoring the MBR whilst windows is running. It only gets executed on startup. In fact you can wipe it and create it within windows.
The main reason I would like to use it is to repair the MBR for Linux grub (installed on my PC's) which windows loves to overwrite with it's own.
The acronis recovery disk could be a good option as well, but this option really should be in the windows app. I thought it was there in previous versions.

There is indeed no issue with writing or modifying the MBR, but when you trigger this operation with ATI, ATI modifies the boot records to reboot in the pre-Windows environment to perform the restore. The modification of the boot record can be the source of a lot of trouble if ATI doesn't perform and leave the boot records pointing at the ATI environment, for any hardware or software issue.

Confirmed that it works from the recovery disk thanks,
The modification of the boot record is always a source of trouble if you don't know what you are doing, but there should be an option in Windows to do this even if it's hidden somewhere (an advanced mode if you like). Just because it is perceived as dangerous doesn't mean the facility should not be there, it useful to some people, and I'm pretty sure it there was the in previous versions.
