MBR virus message, after reboot with Try & Decide.

Thread needs solution

It is normal, after a Try & Decide session and choosing to restore the previous conditions, that after reboot this BIOS message appears? :

Bootsector write!!
Virus: continue (Y/N)?

Thanks in advance for answers.

P.S.
My OS: XP professional SP3; My True Image version: 2010

Because your system BIOS monitors Bootsector writes, this would be expected behavior when Acronis tries to update the hard drive, to restore the previous data.

Ok, thanks.

I just received the same message after using 'Try and Decide'

The boot message is misleading: it should say 'Virus?' not 'Virus:' as it gives the impression a virus has been detected rather than being inferred from something legitimate but unusual.

Ideally it would say 'Unless you are conducting a system maintenance reboot (in which case this is potentially a false alarm), please conduct a boot virus check'

You can use antivirus software to fix the MBR Virus or check if the system has this virus using MBRCheck. If it reports an unknown MBR then use Windows Recovery Console or Recovery Environment to fix it.
