Metadata not updated; Deleted backups via Windows explorer:_The Fix?
I have gone everywhere I know to find an answer (KnowledgeBase, Forum via search. User's manual etc) to no avail; What follows is a lot of detail to explain I think a simple issue:
"Do not delete backups manually from the file system (e.g. using Windows Explorer). This will leave the metadata outdated causing possible backup/cleanup failures (see My error messages below)."
From the knowldege base, I learned: (Version11.5)47159: Acronis Backup: How to Delete Backups, I learned that "If you check the vault (e.g. by browsing it in Windows explorer), you'll see this backup is not present. This means the backup was deleted manually from the storage, but metadata was not updated."
So, I want to delete the meta-data.
Continuing with the same article, I read : Open Acronis management console and navigate to the vault. Click on the Refresh button. This should update the metadata of the archive and solve the problem."
I can not do this because: I have Acronis 2014. I do not see an Acronis Management Console in my version. So How do I accomplish this in Acronis 2014??????
Note: I manually deleted backups:b2,b3,b4 to make space. Currently I have backups b5, b6. The backups are valid, but on b6 I get these error messages:
My error messages:
1) Failed to open data stream. Try to remove the backup from the list, add it again by clicking 'Browse for backup' and recreate the backup settings(manually deleted via Windows Explorer): Error code: 0x000B03E9+0x01E50006+0x01E50015+0x01E5001A+0x000B041D+0x00040011+0x0000FFF0+0x80070002

Graham,
That helped. I have learned more of the nuts and bolts of this program. It appears that we are to learn from the forums, not Help or Acronis support. It reminds me of the Amiga/Commodore community.
Thanks again. This did the trick
