Im using build 8353

Is that TI 10?

Hello

I'm a new user of TI.

I use TI echo server on Windows Server 2003 with RAID 1 drives (2HDrives) and I have the same problem.

Msg : MFT bitmap endommagé 0x70018  - Tag = 0x89D94B01B483E193

I want to use the automatic Task but I can't because i have to verify if the process was OK or NOT.

I'm disapointed. If you could help me !

Thank you.

Hello Sylvain,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

It looks like the file system contains errors. Could you please check the disks for errors?

- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd)
- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r"
where DISK is the partition letter you need to check. Please note, that
checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

See if the issue remains. If the issue persists, please download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach to your post.

This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

Thank you.

Hello,

I've Acronis Backup&Recovery 10 Advanced Server, build 11.105.

I've the some problem.

I've tried to execute "chkdsk DISK: /r" for all the partitions, but the issue remains.

In attached the report zip file, generated by Acronis Report utility.

I've solve the problem in a strange way.

In my backup strategy  I've exclude from backup *.tib files, nd it worked.

I had a dik drive reporting occasional bad blocks. Chkdsk /f completed ok. I bought a new hard disk and asked the man in the shop what to use to make an image copy. He suggested Acronis True Image Home 2009. I booted with the Acronis disk in the optical drive and proceeded to do a 1 to 1 clone onto a partiction of the same size (on a drive with same size blocks and larger overall).

I too got the MFT bitmap corrupted (0x70018) Tag = 0x89D94B..... Error. I looked here and saw there were no clear fixes.

I put the disk on a FreeBSD machine (I had to disturb some one to do this) and used 'dd' and absolutley no problems. 4 block could not be read out of 72 million. Clone disk works fine and reports OK with chkdsk.

File system integrity should not come into it anyway for a direct sector by sector copy.

So I paid $79.95 for a piece of software that was meant to be a convenience but it did not work and the only way to complain or get assistance is via this forum.

What do I do now?

Unless TI is making a sector-by-sector backup as requested by the user, it does more than make a blind sector by sector copy. It does interpret the filesystem to some extent and if it can't make sense of it for any reason from corruption to unsupported it will then revert automatically to a sector-by-sector backup and copy every sector in the partition whether in-use or not. When restoring a normal image, TI does not necessarily put the contents of sector originally located at address ABCD back into a sector at the same address. It adjusts the filesystem pointers to reflect any changes necessary. Imaging does not use the same mechanism as a data (files and folders) backup which makes much more use of the filesystem and thus is slower than imaging.

But the problem is it does not complete the sector by sector copy in my situation and for many others here.

Companies that want to charge you for reporting their bugs really annoy me. We will see what response, if any, we get from Acronis when they return to work on Monday.

Same problem here. Starting CHKDSK/R.
I've been trying to get a backup all day.
Couldn't get TI 10 to boot other partitions so now using the trial version of TI 2010.

I have found mine own solution for the mft-bitmap errors continuing with acronis true image home 2009 and 2010. These problems did not stop with any using chkdsk, so i found out, where they come from. acronis makes a backup as i use it from my system, but this mine system used till then a swap file using a different partition. and stopping this different partition and using under windows vista and windows 7 the own system-partition for the swap file brought the solution. i don't have any more problems with any backup and restore. and i understand very well why the problem had persisted so long. acronis used the system-implementation, demanding the use in the registry of a different partiton, a partition which might be used double or doesn't exist at that moment. so stopping the use of the swap file in another partition stopped my problems. hope this helps other users of acronis not to doubt about acronis, but to understand that acronis needs some help by programmers using acronis (i ti 2010 and windows 7 professional). sorry about lack of time to use a better image of this text.

Hans:

I'm thrilled that you found a solution for this. Any chance you can give some of us that are slightly behind you in programming skills a "how to" on your solution?

Thanks.

I just had the same problem with the MFT Bitmap error.

Thanks to Hans-Martin I remembered that I switched my swap file from automatic to fixed size. Seems Acronis couldn't handle this. I switched it back to automatic and now my backup is running.

Thanks again Hans-Martin.

Best Regards
Aydan

PS: Running W7 ultimate x64

Running Acronis TI 11, build #8101 on Windows XP Home w/ NTFS. Two related facts (I think), #1) about 2 months ago, the Acronis Secure Zone Partition started showing up as a drive letter - it was no longer hidden. #2)About a month ago, when running from the command line: "CHKDSK drive: /V > drive:\results.txt", I got messages similar to the above: "MFT Bitmap error" AND "unused index entries found in security index $SII file #9" and other similar messages about index entries. BIG MISTAKE: I then ran chkdsk drive /F /R (actually from within the Windows fix error and checked /F & /R for checking after the next boot up). On boot-up the chkdsk starts re-assigning all new indices to all my files- unfortunately too - to both partitions. By the time I finally get into Windows about 2/3 of my files are gone (file name is there, but no size to the file). My wife's laptop has the same messages as above and same Acronis version etc. (But I'm not about to repair hers yet.)

So, two questions: #1) Did Acronis do this because of whatever happened to Secure Zone? 2) Will I be able to run Acronis TI 11 on (a brand new machine) with Win 7 Ultimate x64 if I make sure the system first has the pagefile on the primary boot drive and the system also has the pagefile set to automatic size?

Also, does anybody want to take a stab on what went wrong? Acronis is the only common link that I can see.

Happy new year and new decade!

Paul R.

Hello all,

Please accept our profound apologies for the delay with the response.

I'm familiar with the issue and will do my best to help you.

If it's a first time when you faced the issue, please check all of your disks for the errors by the means of CHKDSK utiluty:

  • Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd);
  • Enter the command:

    chkdsk DISK: /r

where DISK is the drive letter of the partition you need to check. Please note that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.

If the issue still persists, I may recommend you to install the updated SnapAPI driver that is responsible for all Acronis operations with drives:

  • For Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 users:

Download, unpack install SnapAPI build #512 and reboot the machine.

  • For Acronis True Image Home 2009/2010 users

Download, unpack and install SnapAPI build #507 and reboot the machine.

If the problem remains after installing that driver, please download Acronis Report utility and run it, create a report and attach it to your reply. This would provide me with the exact information about your hard drives and partitions and will help me to investigate the issue.

Paul Reynolds: most probably, the file system on the hard drive with Acronis Secure Zone became corrupted for some reasons and that caused its visibility. Please be aware that Acronis True Image 11 Home doesn't support Windows 7, so you want' be able to use it with this OS.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Thanks, that works for me now.

If I run chkdsk /r and then install the new driver, my backup succeeds.

I'm running True Image 2010 Plus Pack on Windows 7 64-bit.

Thank you Ilya for the comprehensive reply.

I don't know if the SnapAPI works as I have had to procure a new computer, and external hard drive because Acronis trashed both. I lost multi-gigs of data and multi-weeks of time, in addition to all of the money. I purchased four copies of Acronis for our four home computers. Because of my experience with Acronis I will not be purchasing any thing else because of the lack of support, and lack of support for a new operating system. I'm out of money and out of time. (I am glad Acronis is working for Chris - somebody needs some luck!)

Sincerely,

Paul Reynolds

chkdsk /f c:
was sufficient for me. I had to accept to fix disk after next reboot.

After operation finished it was stated that MFT Bitmap was fixed.

Almost a year and a half later and still getting this error message. Incredible. "chkdsk"...that's a good one.

what is difference between simple backup and full backup. I created back policy on 14 machines as a full backup. one machine is creating simple back up instead of full backup, rest of all machines are fine with full backup Any comments

Sony,

What version and build of True Image are you using?

Where are you seeing the partition error warning and what was Truye Image trying to do at the time?

Hello support

I have Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server  (build 8163) VM running on VM a EXSi host has the error below & attached report.txt file

I have run the CHKDSK /R last night but no help.

Is anyone can help?!

Great thanks,

Rex,

This is a True Image thread.  You might have more luck posting over in the Acronis True Image Echo and older versions Forum

Otherwise, you may have to consider opening up a technical support case with Acronis directly (we're all users here like you - other than the occasional mod).

Best of luck.
