Microsoft VC80.CRT Public Key Token Error

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I just bought Acronis True Image Home 2011 to make a backup of my OS drive, but I'm unable to install it because of the error above (and attached in the jpg).

I've tried to run the sfc /scannow command, and followed the instructions from the knowledge base. Can someone help me get the software to install?

Attached is an image of the error and the install log. I'm running Windows 7 64bit.

Thanks

Hello Cody!

Welcome to our Forum, we're glad to greet you here! I understand your concern, and will be glad to help you with the issue.

This is a known issue, we have it described alongside with the solution in this KB article

Basically the problem is with your Windows operating system which is unable to install the redistributable components of C Runtime. For example, installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (or similar) will fail in the same way.

To fix the issue, please run Windows System File Checker:

(!) You will need to have Windows Installation Disc to run the utility. It is strongly recommended to boot from the disc to run the system file check. See also Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 929833.

(!) If you do not have Windows Installation Disc at hand, you can always create it within Windows. Please see How to Create a System Repair Disk in Windows 7 and Vista.

  1. Hit Start-Run and type in cmd
  2. In the command line, issue the following command:

    sfc.exe /scannow

(!) You can also view detailed instructions with screenshots at How to Run the System File Checker (Sfc.exe) Offline in Windows 7 and Vista.

This will check the system for corruption and repair the corrupted system files from the Windows Installation Disc.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

I am using Vista SP2 and I can't find a way to create the system repair disk without having a system install or recovery disk. The link you give for creating a repair disk requires you to have the install or recovery disk. Do you have a better solution for those of us who don't have the install or recovery disk?

I can buy a disk and don't even get the disk??? I can wait until I get back home and will use the disk that came with the computer.

I was thinking of how to deal with all the disappointments I have over Windows. The problem is I can't buy a decent laptop at a reasonable price without also paying for Windows. Otherwise I would just convert to Linux. It seems like I shouldn't have to pay Microsoft for Windows if I am not going to use Windows.
