migrating to new computer

Thread needs solution

I have purchased a new motherboard, processor, and ram to update my computer. Biostar A785GE motherboard and AMD Anthlon 11x2 250 processor. I have two HDD (C with XP sp3)(G with Windows 7 Home). If I plug everthing into the new motherboard will I be able to boot up to my OS OK? I have a complete image backup of both hard drives in Acronis Secure Zone on HDD G. If not able to boot what will I need to do?

Hello George!

Thank you for your question and let me help you with it!

Unfortunately I cannot guarantee that everything will work after replugging into the new motherboard since that's the question to the hardware compatibility, and that's the question to the vendors of the motherboards.

Should everything work normally after replugging I would advise you to take a newer backup of the new system configuration to avoid issues with recovery in future: since there will be a hardware change, you will need to add the drivers for the new motherboard on recovery of the older backups, otherwise your system may refuse to boot. For this you need Acronis Universal Restore. Acronis Universal Restore is a special add-on for corporate versions of Acronis True Image that allows you to restore your images to dissimilar hardware.

Unfortunately there is no Acronis Universal Restore add-on for Acronis True Image Home 2010, but we have it in Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack edition. I would also advise you to take a look at this detailed Acronis Universal Restore User's Guide with the step-by-step screenshots.

I would appreciate if you could let me know whether you have any further questions - I will be glad to answer!

Thank you!
