Migration from 1TB HDD to 512GB SSD

Thread needs solution

I'm looking to upgrade from my rather elderly Acronis Disk Director 11 to the current 2015 version. However, I need to know if it will allow me to "clone" my existing 1TB HDD to a 512GB SSD, including all the hidden "recovery" partitions. I'm using an Acer V3-772G running Win 8.1. Will the current version of Acronis allow me to do this?

BTW, is the Acronis customer service a little "laid back", or are they simply uninterested in their existing or prospective customers? I've tried 4 different routes to contacting them to ask the above question, and have been prevented from doing so each time - really infuriating!

The preferred method is to create a disk image, and then restore that image onto the target drive (as opposed to running the clone tool)
That being said, as long as your current disk usage is less than the available space on the target drive, Acronis can do it. It will resize the partition as required (either to a larger partition when moving to a bigger drive, or a smaller partition when moving to a smaller drive).
I have moved numerous 320GB and 500GB drives onto 120GB and 250GB SSDs. Word of warning, if you are using Quickbooks, definitely make sure to retain the disk signature during the process ... got caught with that one.

Yes, Acronis True Image is a great tool to do what you want to do. That said, just like with any similar tools, the evolution towards GPT/UEFI has made the certainty of success lower, because of UEFI implementations and disk layouts variations which can lead to undesirable results when you let the tools do
automatic scaling and repositioning of partitions.
