Most Reliable ATIH2011 Build?

Thread needs solution

It seems that each new build brings new issues/bugs, so I'm wondering if it's really a good idea to update to the latest build when it becomes available?

Which 2011 build are you Acronis-experts using?

As far as I am concerned, I am now using the latest build, which fixes many issues and therefore is simpler to use. But again, I only use ATI on my core system for simple incremental system disk imaging.
I cannot use it for file backup because the 6597 and 6696 has an issue with EFS encrypted files, but now both 6696 and 6857 have an issue with file selection in file backups...
So, if you need only disk and partition backups go with the latest build, if you need only file backup, consider staying with 6597. If you need both, well...

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the feedback. Actually, my use of ATI is as simple as it gets. I use it to create on-demand images of my C-Drive (no scheduling or anything fancy) and I only use the Recovery CD to do that. But I always have a bad feeling in my gut that if and when I need to restore an image made with a prior build I may incur problems!

I don't know of backward compatibility with previous builds, or previous versions.

That's what worries me!!!

I meant I don't know of any issue with backward compatibility... :-)

Backwards compatibility of images is usually very good. TI 2011 supports restoring images all the way back to TI 8. Newer builds should not have problems restoring backups made with older builds. If you're concerned about it and don't want to run a test restore, do a validation. That will let you know if TI can read the image successfully.

Hi MudCrab, thanks for the feedback - I appreciate your confirmation on this.

So do you typically update ATI to the latest build (upon its release)???
