Mounting backup image - wrong file/folder icons

Thread needs solution

Hi,

working with the brand new TI2010 release I immediately tried to mount a previously created (TI2010) image. First the used icons which are shown in the explorer are not really Windows 7 alike. See the first two attached images.

What annoys me more it the fact that folder icons do not show properly, see attached screen shot #3. The icons used are way too small and are not correct. Why not just use the default Windows 7 folder icon instead of this one? Of course this is just a minor issue, however it is not very convenient when trying to identify which of the items in the list is a folder and which not.

I may be wrong, but TI2009 did a better job at this point. I'm currently running Windows 7 RTM build 7600 Ultimate.

Hello Micky,

I see the same icons as your first two images if I open the TIB file using Windows Explorer on WinXP.  Note that Windows Explorer doesn't open True Image.  I mention this because you used two terms (mount and explorer) which function differently.  If you truly use the mount command, either by opening True Image and selecting mount from there or by right-clicking the TIB file and select mount, True Image should open and hopefully display the icons correctly.  Realize that I have no experience with Win 7 or Vista.  I just wasn't clear about how you were doing it.  Your third image does look strange.

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

sorry for the confusion, about the two terms! I meant when double clicking an image file, Windows 7 shows up the file icons inside Windows Explorer in a wrong way.

If you double-click on the hard drive icon does it open up and display the folders using a Windows icon or is that what your image #3 represents?  Very strange.

Yes, indeed, it shows image #3 when double-clicking on an image file. I will boot today my Windows XP and see what it will show when performing the same steps.

I will report back!

OK, here I'm again!

I've now booted XP Pro running TI 2009 and double-clicked a 2009 TIB image file in Windows Explorer. The icons are correct. This means TI 2010 fails on performing the same task.

Edit: Mounting an image file with the internal TI 2010 mount tool works as expected!

So it's up to you Acronis to fix this for TI2010!
