MS EXPLORER COPY vs ACRONIS RESTORE

Thread needs solution

Tried to find specific answer in the K-base & Forum answers, but could not find exact match. I experimented & it seemed OK, but was unsure if something important I am missing. Summary: am trying to locate all JPEG photo images stored in my Acronis 2014 backup, and simply copy them to a USB drive. Question is....is it critical to use an Acronis RESTORE process for this, or is it OK to simply use MS File Explorer, search for the JPEGs within the backup, and do a DIRECT MS EXPLORER COPY to a USB? Mainly concerned about compression feature.....is this COPY OK to do even if Acronis backup used compression...will copied files automatically decompress, maintain integrity? Thx for any input. - Mike

You would be fine in doing this. The files you discuss are simple user data files. Because the JPEG format is an already compressed format I think it unlikely that the TI app would attempt further compression thus such files are in all likelihood backed up as is.
