msvcp80.dll missing

Thread needs solution

I have recently updated onto Acronis True Image 2010. Since then I always get message "msvcp80.dll missing" during booting. I downloaded msvcp80.dll, put it into directory "drivers", but still it doesn't work. Any suggestions ?

Hello Bernhard,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

Check the following article on how to resolve the issue concerning msvcp80.dll. http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcp80

You should download the requested file and place it to C:\Windows\System32 (for Windows XP) as described here http://www.dll-files.com/unzip.php

I have the same problem - TimounterMonitor.exe - unable to locate component.......
I have already put copies of MSVCP80.dll in both \windows\system32 and \windows\system.
Note. there were already copies of MSVCP80.dll in about a dozen other locations!

I have the same problem with msvcp80.dll not being found, even though it is obviously located at about twenty different places on my hard drive, including \system, \system32, and in each folder for Acronis under \Program Files. I ran a registry repair program, i.e., CCleaner, downloaded the slightly different-sized version of the subject .dll file located at the above-referenced location, and ran the repair utility in the True Image installation program -- all without removing the error.

I am afraid to completely remove the True Image 2010 application and start over, because I purchased an upgrade, and I don't know if the new upgrade installation of the 2010 application would work if there was not evidence of my Version 7 application, which is no longer there.

I understood that there was to be 30 days of support following my purchase. Just having access to the forum and the knowledge base really sucks, since the problem is already known to Acronis, but these resources so far do not address this problem.

Hello Dmitry,
I do have the same problem. Following your instructions didn't help.
Currently I have disabled Timounter to get rid of the annoying error message. However, this should be a temporary fix only - in the end I paid for it.

I'm running Windows XP home SP3.
TrueImage 11 has not had this problem.
Any other suggestions?

Regards
Harald

I have the same problem Timounter could not load missing mxvcp80.dll. From the number of posts with the identical problem for Acronis 2010, there is a problem with your software. Also after installing 2010, I can no longer access any of my shared drives or folders.
Next time I will wait until a new version comes out to buy the old one. My time is worth over $250/hr (that is what I bill out). Spending over 6 hrs figuring this was coming from your new program has cost me a lot of money.

Before downloading a DLL, it is recommended that you read "Important Reasons NOT to download DLL Files - DLL Download Sites Should NOT be your Source for DLL Files."

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findtheproblem/qt/dll-download.htm.

A related article may be helpful. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/ht/sfc-scannow.htm

I am also having the same problem "Timountermonitor.exe etc etc; msvcp80.dll etc etc" and the fix you suggest does not work. Like others I am disappointed the upgrade should have been promoted if this sort of thing has not been ironed out. I did a system restore and reinstalled, witched off windows explorer since the install seemed to need this etc etc. I await a solution but I assume if the fix is not forthcoming I can have my upgrade money back?

In case this is useful I run on Vista and have had no similar problems with the previous version

Chris

OK here is the solution (for me at least). Uninstall previous version of Acronics True Image product (in my case ATI 11) and reinstall 2010 (and NOTE: you will need reg number of both the old and the new upgrade handy...)... and hey presto the problems go away. Spent all night arriving at this conclusion - why is this not clearly stated in the sales blurb?

Chris

I followed Chris' suggestion and TOTALLY uninstalled TI Home 2010. I had upgraded from version 11.0. I recommend using a tool like Revo Uninstaller to make sure *everything* gets removed, as the application uninstaller leaves lots of remnants in the registry. Upon reinstalling, the error went away. Interestingly, Timountermonitor.exe is not a part of TI Home 2010. The upgrade apparently failed to remove a number of files and registry entries from the previous version. Note: In order to reinstall, you will need your serial numbers for both the new version and the version you are upgrading from.

Attempted to upgrade from Acronis True Image 11 Home to True Image Home 2010 Upgrade. Got the dreaded Timounter... etc. error msg Can't find MSVCP80.dll. Went through numerous Cleverbridge web sites asserting they can fix. Bought RegistryBooster recommended, but no help. Have ininstalled a couple of times and reinstalled. My system is Windows XP SP3 with 2.93 GB RAM. I think I must just give up on Home 2010 and go back to Ture Image 11 Home. TR 12/3/2009

Hello all,

Chris thank you for providing solution for the issue. Though it’s not necessary to uninstall the previous version of Acronis True Image before installing the upgrade it’s advisable to do so because some branches of outdated versions can still remain in the registry and result in the similar issues.

Here are KB articles on how to manually uninstall Acronis True Image products:

Manual Uninstallation of Acronis True Image Home 2009

Manual Uninstallation of Acronis True Image 9.x and Echo from Windows

Manual Uninstallation of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home from Windows 2000

Manual Uninstallation of Acronis True Image 11 Home from Windows 2000

Manual Uninstallation of Acronis True Image 8.0 (Server for Windows)

Jer in order to solve the issue with shared drives/folders do the following:

- Run "regedit" command (Start -> Run);

- Find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters registry key;

- Increase the IRPStackSize value or create it and set to 18, if it does not exist.

Here is step-by-step description:

1.Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

2.Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

3.Click Edit, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

4.Type IRPStackSize, and then press ENTER to name the value.

Note Type IRPStackSize exactly as it is displayed. The value name is case sensitive.

5.Click Edit, and then click Modify.

6.In the Data Value box, type the value that is appropriate for the network, and then click OK.

The problem is that Microsoft Lanman Server has a fixed limit on the quantity of filters it supports. Since Acronis product installs some filters to work, the total number of filters can exceed the server's limit. The same problem may occur after installation of an Antivirus product and is described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 177078

Please refer to the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 177078 for a workaround (also applies to Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008).

If you create the IRPStackSize value as described in Step 4 in the Microft article, the default value will be 15. It is recommended that you increase the value by 3.

Then reboot and see if it works. If it does not, increase the value by 3 again (to 21, for example) and reboot again. If you get to 50 and it still does not work, the issue is most likely not caused by the IRPStackSize value.

Let me know if the issue persists and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thank You.

Don't forget that, after putting msvcp80.dll into your system32 directory, you probably have to register it with the OS. Open a command prompt, go to your system32 directory, type "regsvr32 system32.dll" (without quotes) and press enter. You should get a message that msvcp80.dll was registered successfully.

Can ya'all successfully post a new forum topic? I am getting the following error message whenever I try to create a new forum topic:

The source affiliate must be selected as a publishing option.

I notice that when creating a new forum topic, the forum switches from a standard http connection to a secure https connection. I also get a warning in Firefox that the information is about to be sent over an unsecure connection. Has the forum been hacked?

Hello GoneToPlaid,

I believe that these issues were caused by configuration changes on forum at that time.

Please contact me if this issue is not gone.

Thanks,

Problem solved, for me anyway. I uninstalled Acronis True Image 2011 Home w/Plus Pack using Revo Uninstaller, then restarted, and reinstalled A.T.I. 2011, and it works great. I figured it took me less time, plus it was easier, than to take all those steps mentioned earlier.
