My first back up and I get 'The specified file does not exist:' - Please help me with my first back up...

Thread needs solution

Hi there

I am back to using Acronis and have decided to update to 2015.

I would like to back up my C drive which is 1.7 Tb to my new external Z drive which is 2 TB. Unfortunately I get 2 error messages.

1) Failed to read data from disk. Ok so I may have a few corrupt sectors but I click 'ignore all' and it proceeds;

2) Confirmation. The specified file does not exist: Z:\Acronis Backups\Local Disk(C)_full_b1_s1_v1.tib. To specify another location click browse.

I don't click another location so I just cancel.

Why isn't my C drive backing up? I don't understand. And the fact that I may have a few bad secors sort of gives me more urgency to back up effectively! Please help.

I have attached snapshots of the two error messages.

Thanks

RUn checkdisk X: /R on each X: partition of the disk you are backup up. For hidden partitions that allow it, assign a drive letter temporarily using windows disk management to perform the check.

Can you see the created TIB file on the Z: drive?

hi Pat L. Thanks for your comments although I don't entirely underststand. Rather than checkdisk I ran disk repair on the C drive and now the only error message I get is the second one (regarding the Tib file).

And yes, I can see it on my Z drive. It's 512,000 Kb.

This time, rather than press cancel, I chose Browse and specified Z:\Acronis Backups. But still get the same error message. :-(

Thanks

I've ran checkdisk and that hasn't worked. Any other suggestions on how I perform a simple back up?

One option you might consider trying would be to boot from the user created TI Recovery CD and perform the backup (any type of your choosing) when booted from the TrueImage Recovery CD.
