Need to delay scheduled backup when computer wakes from sleep

Thread needs solution

I'm using Acronis 2011 build 6942 to backup a Windows 7 desktop computer.

My backup is written to to a USB3 external hard drive attached to an add on PCIx card. When the computer is being used, scheduled backups are completed without any problem.

The difficulty I'm having is when the computer wakes from the Sleep state to perform a backup. The backup starts before the hard drive gets remounted. It seems, that when the computer goes to sleep, the drive attached to the external card, goes into a Sleep state of its own. Once the computer wakes up, it takes about 2 minutes for the external drive to be reactivated. Prior to this occurring, the backup starts, doesn't find the external drive and stops. The backup fails.

Is there anything I can do to delay a scheduled backup for 2 to 3 minutes, when the computer wakes from Sleep?

Here is something you can try.

I believe Win 7 offers a TIMEOUT COMMAND. Adjust thr # of seconds to your needs.
Start/Program/accessories
and RIGHT click on Notepad and choose the run as administrator option.
Copy/paste the command below into notepad and save it as c:\usb3-drive-delay.CMD

Then inside the TrueImage Disk Backup Options, add the file name& path to the Pre/post PRE command
c:\usb3-drive-delay.CMD

----------------------------------------

@ECHO OFF
ECHO.
ECHO A countdown delay of 300 seconds to allow time for Drive Z to be recognized by Windows at Startup.
ECHO.

TIMEOUT /T 500 /NOBREAK

Exit

Also be aware of this setting located in the Device Manager under Universal serial Bus and this setting will be found on the ROOT listing of several root devices in that section. This setting can be used to keep the usb3 disk from sleeping at all.

Good. How many seconds delay did you use inside your own file?
