Need Event log or other information to troubleshhot the reason for restore failure

Restore to dissimilar hardware fails with no indication of why

The Question: Is there a log or other means to identify "why" the acronis restore failed so that I can understand where to look and resolve the issue that is preventing a successful restore?
The background: I have done 4-5 restores to dissimilar hardware (actually restoring a backup to virtual machines - P2V ) and have never had one restore sucessfully. Most of the time I am able to resolve the issue by fixing the boot sector so no indication of the problem has been acceptable. This latest restore is giving me a new problem that appears to be more than a simple boot sector repair. If I have something that explains why the restore failed perhaps I can isolate the problem. The manuals don't seem to indicate any logs are available but I find it hard to beleive. Any help is appreciated.

With the standard procedure to build a WinPE ISO (any version of WinPE and with at least 2012 and 2013, maybe older, too) using the Acronis WinPE builder or any manual method tried to date, a file is missing that is necessary to use the Plus Pack successfully when Universal Restore is needed. The File is "mspack.dll" and is found on installed copies of 2012/2013, but does not get put into the WinPE ISO. I have copied the file to the "mounted" .wim file into the Acronis program folder before dismount and commit and this seems to allow it to be found and work okay when Universal Restore is needed.

Extract by a posting by user Mustang regarding the use of his program.
James,

Thanks again for the mspack.dll tip. I just completed a successful Universal Restore recovery of Windows 8 to different hardware. I used the ADK version of MustangPEBuilder created under Windows 8 with TI Home 2013 to do the restore.
