Need help changing harddisk c: with windows 7 and acronis true image

Thread needs solution

Hello, I have a strange problem, I tried to change my sata hard disk using acronis true image 2010.
(windows 7 home edition)

For Target file I use partition c:
when the image is written on my disk the partition is not c: but finally d:, I don't understand why

Also, I don't have the sound driver, I can't understand this too ?? as on my original hard disk the
sound driver is perfectly working.

Thanks

Can you explain in more detail what it is you are attempting to do. Such as
1. Are you simply restoring a backup of your system Drive C or
2. Are you trying to create a duplicate of your system from your old drive to a new drive.

As for drive letters
Windows uses one methods and the Recovery program (Linux) uses a different method. What you need to do is NOT to use drive letters but use the drive name or model number or characteristics such as drive size, etc, to make sure you are selecting the correct target partition.

Thank you Grover for this fast reply.

Answer is 2

I am trying to change a samsung 1To drive (old model with bad review) to a new Samsung 1To (new model with good review)
I just try to put the image of my original drive to the new one.

So supposing the drive letter is something I did wrong, why is the sound driver missing ? it's so strange

I would perform the restore again and this time checkmark the disk as the option to be restored.

Also check mark the "Disk signature" located in lower left of the target screen.

Some of the newer programs disk are looking for a disk signature to get all the benefits (such as Adobe & Acronis). That may explain the sound issue but not sure.

1. Be sure and perform the restore when booted from the TI Rescue CD.
2. Afterwards, shutdown and disconnect the Samsung before a reboot.
The only drive to be attached on first bootup is the new model disk.

If this is an IBM or Lenova, you will need to put the target disk in boot position before restoring due to its special disk geometry.

Ok I will try this and tell you the result.

would it be possible to put my c: image to a ssd disk ? I am considering using a ssd for system disk
