Need to recover serial number of *previous* version of TrueImage, but I have no order info...
About 2 years ago I bought whatever version of TrueImage was current then, and earlier today I upgraded to TrueImage Home 11 and immediately ran both a full backup and a personal data backup with it. Then, because my current install of Vista was done in December 2008 and has become very slow, I wiped my HD and reinstalled Vista, with the intention of reinstalling all my personal files from my Home 11 backup.
And here's the problem...
When I tried to reinstall Home 11 using the install file I downloaded this morning, it asked for the serial number (as expected) but then, because it's an upgrade version, also asked for the serial number of my *old* version of TrueImage. It hadn't done that this morning, obviously because it automatically detected the previous version.
Simply put, I don't have the serial number for the original version (the email it came in is long gone), and to the best of my knowledge I didn't register it with Acronis when I bought it. Is there anything I can do about this? The only piece of information I'll be able to offer about my original order 2 years ago is the email address I used, which is the same as the one I used to buy Home 11 today.
I was prepared to have to reinstall the last backup I ran with the previous version of TrueImage, just to be able to get the serial number... and then I remembered that I deleted it this morning, because I'd just made a shiny new Home 11 backup. I still have the disaster recovery boot CD that I made with my previous version of TrueImage, but presumably that won't recover a Home 11 backup?
Obviously I want to get Home 11 properly reinstalled, but as an interim measure to get my personal data back ASAP, could I install Home 11 as a trial version and use that to recover the personal data backup I ran this morning?
