Netgear ReadShare fails

I am unable to successfully complete a backup to my Netgear R7000 WiFi router via USB3 hard drive. The error log says "error while writing the file." Examining the backup process I see that Acronis is writing smaller .TIB files to Netgear backup location. Around 10 to 25MB. The backup process evenly completely fails and all TIB files are removed.
I can copy files to this drive without error. So I kinda believe True Image is at fault.
