I'm looking for suggestions about specific brands of Network Attached Storage.
Many NAS boxes come with RAID to protect agents disk failures but what about the controller electronics?
Some time ago I had a NAS box fail. The disks were fine but the file system was a proprietary format so the only way to recover the data was to pay the manufacturer an enormous sum of money to recover the data.
What I am looking for is a NAS box that uses a standard file system where recovery tools are available ahead of time.
