Networking lost since TIH Update (solved)
Since I use TIH2009 (and Disk Director) since years and am very satisfied with them, I decided to buy a 2.5" WesternDigital ext. disk for my notebook, because WD delivers an Acronis TIH with it.
Anything worked perfect, the 'light edition' WD-TIH did its work: make images from my laptop.
Then unfortunately I found a new version on WD's website, downloaded and installed it over the existing version. I replaced tih_s_de.exe with tih_s_e_14010.exe.
Ever since I've lost my network, i. e. when I open an Explorer and try to connect to a network drive, the network frezzes after a short time and I need to reboot the machine to get it up and working again.
My notebook is installed as a 'triple-boot', which means I have Windows XP Prof., Windows 7 Prof. and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on three partitions. With Win7 and Ubuntu I don't have any network problems, so that a hardware problem of any sort is NOT the solution.
The network behavior under WinXP is a direct result from my TIH update.
Does anyone here have a solution for me?
Best regards
Norbert

Nobert,
Why not use one of your many backups and restore you system back the way it was. Your problem is also compounded by DD.
Or bit the bullet and try the trial version of both 2011 and DD11. These may offer you a working solution.
Any help that you get from the forum contributors will be minimal--not because they are not willing but because none of us use the WD version (and even additionally WD with DD).

Hi all,
problem solved. (read more)
To GroverH: This is not the first time Acronis users face a network problem _after_ an update. All I had expected (especially from you as the author of the very nice index!) was a hint to a forum newbie on where to search and find advice and/or solutions.
I am btw. a longtime, registered owner of DD and TIH licences. But for my notebook, weekly images with Acronis WD Edition are fine for me.
So I spent a couple of hours on this forum, found many similar cases, found the links to the solutions and ended up in the 'sorry, Microsoft doesn't allow us to prevent you with this software' hint or ran into the 'denied access' sign on _this_ forum! Until I found a post, where someone had forgotten to eliminate the link to the tiny piece of software, I needed.
What was my fault? I had installed the newer version of the WD Ed. _without_ first de-installing the old version. Clearly my mistake, although I must admit, that almost every software in the market including but not limited to many free / open source solutions offer a much more sophisticated approach to their updating customers than Acronis does. :-(
So I found and tried the 'true_image_home_cleanup.exe' (2.2 MB) a couple of times, without success. I even changed the IRPStackSize, according to some posts here (put it back to the default of 15 after the show).
The solution is a much earlier piece of software, named 'AcronisCleanUp.exe' (220 kB), which worked like a charme (and please: without using the download of msizap.exe!), just go to point Nr. 2 and de-install TIH with entering a 't'. Reboot. Done.
For all that come into my miserable situation, I'll attach this software here.
Thank you for your help,
Norbert

Norbert,
My apologies for not meeting your expectations but your comments and solution is certainly worthy of being a part of index for any other WD-Acronis users with a similar problem. I'm glad you persevered and found a working solution.
