New BackUp Profile Help in 2010
I am just trying out True Image Home 2010 and was trying to set up a backup as follows:
Full BackUp on Sunday
Incremental Monday to Saturday
Full BackUp on Sunday
Delete Previous Full BackUp and Incrementals
- My full backups take up around 45GB, and I am backing up onto a 160GB external hard disk.
What I am wondering is if the "delete previous full backup" option is performed as soon as the task is run, or just after. As in will my previous full backup be deleted before the new one is made or after?
Also, can someone quickly run through the settings with me to get this working as I want?

Hello Hiren,
Sorry for the delayed response.
Do not worry, I will clarify this situation for you.
Generally, the product checks the settings you specify in backup policy before the backup process. So it first deletes the backup and then save the new one. Your previous backup will be deleted before the new one is made. So if your new backup fails you won't be able to access your old one either. So I would recommend you to create several separate tasks, so you will always have the second backup to restore from.
Also, can someone quickly run through the settings with me to get this working as I want?
No problem! In order to set the product up with the settings you mentioned, you should create two tasks as follows:
1. Daily incremental task: starting from Sunday + option to create Full backup after 6 incrementals (this is available in Scheduling option). In order to make your backups deleted, please set up Consolidation option accordingly (for example, set them to consolidate the backups when number of backups exceeds 7).
2. Separate tasks for Full backup on Sunday. I would recommend you to manage this location manually (just periodically check it and delete some old backups).
Please note that the entire backup process and its settings for Acronis True Image Home 2010 are described in Chapter 6 of this User's Guide. Anyway, please feel free to ask me if something is not clear for you from the instructions in User's Guide, I will do my best to clarify.
Best regards,
