New to the forum, having problems
I did try some searching, but wasn't getting very far.
Built new DAW system. Been using ATI and ADD for years on XP systems; this one's currently Win8.1 x64. Lot's of trouble just with that adjustment. Put ATIH2015 (V18.0.6525) and ADD12 on it. Just today, tried to launch ATI and got an error saying I needed to uninstall and re-install the program. The uninstall apparently did not go well. It still shows in the Programs and Features Control Panel, but if I try to uninstall it again (it only offers that option), nothing happens. I then tried re-installing that version which seemed to do nothing. Downloaded the latest version (build 6613) and when I launch the installer I get a Microsoft C++ Runtime Error dialog saying the application had requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way, and to contact the application's support team. Well, it seems my support has "expired", so here I am.
I knew XP inside out. I still have three systems running it using a boatload of legacy peripheral hardware that I simply cannot afford to replace. But this new machine (specs available if needed, but I hate to clutter up the forum if not) and OS are straining my abilities. ATIH has worked on this machine (backups and restores, plus cloning the system drive) a couple of times for me during my initial set-up, so this is a new problem. Any explanations about what might be going on, or suggestions on how to get things working again would be greatly appreciated.

<<<...then run the cleanup utility...>>>
Are you referring to something from Acronis (I should think not, but again I could be way off base) or something else like CCleaner or Revo? I almost ran the Revo Uninstaller, but the number of items listed in the selection list in all sorts of places (registry keys mostly) that I am totally unfamiliar with scared me off a bit. I've had so many problems just getting this machine to it's current state, which is still far from where I need it to be, that I'm really skittish about breaking something else.
Again though, thanks for the advice.

IT is an Acronis utility. See this link: https://kb.acronis.com/content/48668

Thank you both for the help and guidance. I've finally gotten both products uninstalled, although the DD12 didn't really "disappear" until after I'd run the the cleanup utility either. I wonder what they did with that version that is SO different from the earlier ones?
Hopefully the re-install will be successful, and that whatever caused the problem does not re-occur. After reading about some of the issues, I'm almost considering that this was a waste of money and that I should be looking elsewhere for my backup solution.
But that's all a different discussion. Just thanks again for getting me past this major hurdle.

Well, again thanks for the previous help, but I'm about to give up on this. It's been a long week, and I haven't had all that much time to fool with this uncooperative new workstation, but can't seem to re-install TI2015. First tried the version I originally downloaded just after getting my confirmation email for the upgrade to TI2015, which is how I'd originally installed it on this machine (I never installed it on my original XP box). That installer would even start. Tried downloading the the newest version and same thing there: launched the program, but after a blink, Win 8.1 just sat there.
Could it be that it's an upgrade version installed on a different machine? I doubt that, simply because I'd already successfully installed it on this computer before the problems started, but I'm grasping a straws here for some sort of explanation. ATI has been my "backup" solution for many years, but with all these problems I'm seriously considering jumping to something else. It just seems things shouldn't be this difficult or unpredictable.
Any suggestions?
